Meet Krissie

Kristian "Krissie" Harris the current 2nd Ward Council member. She is a proud lifelong resident of Evanston, deeply committed to the community that shaped her. Krissie is running for re-election to continue bringing a collaborative, transparent, and solutions-oriented approach to local government.
Krissie believes in the power of working together to solve challenges and create opportunities. Guided by truth, facts, and deductive reasoning, she approaches decision-making with a thoughtful and informed perspective, always striving to do what is best for the community.

Understanding the importance of representing the voices of her constituents, Krissie is committed to actively listening, engaging with residents, and ensuring their concerns and ideas are at the forefront of her work. She values open dialogue and seeks to build consensus while fostering trust and accountability.

As an Educator, Krissie has spent her career dedicated to making a difference in our Youth. Her experience has prepared her to navigate complex issues, advocate for meaningful change, and stand as a strong and reliable leader.

With a bachelor’s degree in Construction from Illinois State University and a masters degree in Higher Education Administration, Krissie is an advocate for lifelong learning. Her certifications in Advanced Substance Abuse Counseling, Human Services, Human Resources, and Elder Care reflect her drive to expand her skills and serve others. As she says, “Education is one of the few things that, once given, no one can take away.”

For over 26 years, Krissie has worked at Oakton College, where she strives to make a difference in every student she encounters. Her unique background in construction inspires her approach to “building” people—fostering good citizens and avid learners.
​
Krissie’s candidacy for re-election is supported wholeheartedly by her loving family: parents Denise and Vernard, siblings Joe, Justin, Raishon, Malika, and Courtney, her children Romell and Alexis Harris, and a network of favorite cousins, aunts, and uncles.
